Military Families

Supporting Our Military Families

At New Park Primary Academy, we are proud to be the catchment school for the Army Foundation College and to welcome children from military families. We understand that having a parent in the armed forces can bring unique experiences and challenges, including frequent relocations, long periods of separation, or transitions between schools.

Our military pupils play an important role in our school community. We celebrate the adaptability, strength, and unique perspectives they bring to learning and friendships. Every child’s well-being and sense of belonging are our top priorities.

How we support military pupils:

  • We provide extra pastoral care and emotional support to help children settle, especially after moves or periods of separation.

  • Teachers and staff offer tailored learning support where needed to ensure continuity in learning.

  • We encourage peer connections and friendships, helping children feel included and confident in our school community.

  • Military pupils are given opportunities to share their experiences in a safe and supportive environment, enriching the school for everyone.

  • We maintain strong communication with families and the service children’s support networks to ensure pupils have access to wider resources.

  • Our staff attend a coffee morning for families at the Army Foundation College every half-term, where it always lovely to meet with parents and siblings who are not always able to come in to school.

At New Park Primary Academy, every child matters, and we are committed to making sure that our military pupils feel valued, supported, and able to thrive both academically and socially.

Transport from the Army Foundation College to New Park Primary Academy

There is a bus which takes pupils from the Army Foundation College to New Park in the morning and returns pupils at the end of the school day.  If any new military families would like information about how we can fund transport to and from school, please contact us directly.
