Nidd Class- Nursery

Welcome to Nidd Class!

Named after the River Nidd, which flows through the beautiful countryside close to our school, Nidd Class is where many children begin their journey at New Park. Just as the river starts its journey close to home, our youngest learners begin their own exciting adventure of discovery, growth and exploration.

We are extremely proud of our Early Years provision at New Park Primary Academy. We create a happy, nurturing and stimulating environment where all children feel valued, safe and supported to flourish. Through positive relationships with both adults and their peers, children develop confidence, curiosity and independence while building the foundations for future learning.

The Early Years Foundation Stage provides a unique curriculum where children often initiate their own learning through play, alongside carefully planned opportunities and Project Based Learning. We encourage every child to develop new skills, build strong relationships and foster a love of learning from the very start of their journey with us.

The nursery lead is Mrs T Bailey. 

The nursery teaching assistant is Miss J Mee.

A typical day:

• Children will enter our Early Years classroom and will complete morning challenges such as self-registration, name writing and a challenge focused on maths, reading or writing
• Phonics teaching input in small groups  
• Exploration time with access to our indoor and outdoor environment
• Maths teaching input in small groups
• Lunch time
• Project Based Learning/ Curriculum Learning input in large and/or small groups
• Exploration time with access to our indoor and outdoor environment
• Story time
• Home time
