Governance

New Park Primary Academy School is part of Northern Star Academies Trust (NSAT), a multi-academy trust with 15 academies in its family of schools, educating around 7,000 children and young people. Our committed governance community sits at the heart of our Trust partnership.

NSAT has established three key layers of governance with clear responsibilities:
•    Our Members
•    Our Board of Trustees
•    Our Community Hub Partnerships (Partnerships)

The Board of Trustees is accountable for all key decisions about its academies and for ensuring the Trust operates in accordance with its strategic goals and legal obligations.

Community Hub Partnerships

Local governance at NSAT is delivered through our Community Hub Partnerships; a bold and forward-thinking approach, which aims to strengthen the relationships between schools and the communities they serve. Our Partnerships place the voices of children, young people, families and carers at their heart, and bring those voices into how we design and deliver education.

We have four Community Hub Partnerships, covering distinct geographical areas in Bradford, Harrogate, Keighley and Skipton, each supporting a number of local hub schools.

2 6 e v2New Park Primary Academy School is part of the Harrogate Partnership, along with Harrogate High School, Hookstone Chase Primary School, Starbeck Primary Academy and Willow Tree Primary School. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, our Community Hub Partnership’s role is to ensure that the views of local stakeholders in Harrogate are meaningfully heard, understood and acted upon.

To support this important work, Partnership members will help commission regular independent surveys, convene pupil and parent groups, and gather first-hand, evidence-based insights into school life.  Partnership members will play a vital role in bringing these insights into constructive conversations with school leaders, supporting them to shape education that reflects local context and aspiration. The Partnerships meet formally three times a year, and their work will help ensure that decision-making is informed, inclusive and grounded in the real experiences of those in our school communities. Our Partnerships’ work helps shape schools that inspire curiosity, belonging, and purpose for every child.

Community Hub Partnership Membership

Membership of each Partnership includes the hub schools’ headteachers, a parent from each school and up to five local community members. Partnerships appoint Link Members for Safeguarding & Wellbeing, SEND and Careers (in secondary schools).  Each Partnership is also supported by an expert governance professional.

Independent Stakeholder Feedback

Our Partnerships’ work is informed by surveys managed by The Engagement Platform (TEP), the country’s leading tool for measuring school stakeholder engagement. Collaborating with TEP ensures that we gain objective and nationally benchmarked stakeholder data. To find out more, visit www.tep.uk
